Determining the slope or unevenness of a pool is easy when the pool is full: check whether the still water level coincides with the lines of the tiles or slabs of the pool. If it does not (for example, on one side the water meets the joint lines, while on the other side they diverge and form an angle), this may mean that the pool has sunk. The sinking may be due to differential settlement, and the pool shell may have split. This is dangerous and must be claimed for.
How to report construction defects such as a sloping pool
If a pool has been found to be tilting, we do not know how far it will continue to crack or settle, and filling it with water may make it crack or settle further and cause more damage. The important thing is to stop using it and to call an expert, who will issue a report or even carry out a topographical survey of the pool, so that those responsible can then be claimed against.
Who to claim against for a sloping pool in residential pools or buildings
In any case, against the developer or the contracted installation company, for their contractual liability (15 or 5 years), counted from completion of the property. If the pool has cracked because of differential settlement and the pool is included in the project, the architect may be liable under the LOE.
