A newly built property that has just been handed over should have no damage at all, not even aesthetic damage or defects in finish. To claim for such damage, bear in mind that you have a guarantee period of 1 year from the date the works were received. Please contact us.

How can I claim for aesthetic damage?
To claim for aesthetic damage from those responsible, who will usually be the building contractor, since it is normally a matter of poor execution or finishing, you must first be within the time limit. You then need a technician’s report that records the aesthetic or finishing damage, proposes a method of repair and sets out the cost. The legal department will then make a formal demand and, if necessary, bring a court claim against the builder or developer responsible.
What compensation can I get for aesthetic damage?
Aesthetic damage in a new build, like any other construction damage, must be assessed by a specialist expert, who will value it, propose how to rectify it and cost the repair. On that basis, a formal demand can be made on the building contractor and, if it does not respond, the amount quoted by the expert can be claimed directly as compensation.
